Germany has confirmed its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, set to take place in Bulgaria.
The confirmation came from broadcaster SWR on 18 April 2026, in a statement announcing that a national final will once again select the German entry.
The record
Germany last competed in 2026, when Sarah Engels performed "Fire" and finished 23rd in the final with 12 points.
In total, Germany has participated 69 times since its debut in 1956, with two wins. No country has competed more — Germany has appeared at every contest in history except 1996.
The road to Bulgaria
SWR has confirmed that Germany's entry for Bulgaria will be chosen through a national final. The format, date and name of the show have not yet been announced.
Germany joins Bulgaria and Floptropica among the nations already committed to Eurovision 2027. Broadcasters have until mid-October 2026 to formally submit their applications to the EBU.
