Coconut Song Contest 2027: the Floptropican national final, reviewed

Six entries, one jury, zero citizens, and a scoreboard that has been sealed by court order.

Written and checked by the Bulgariavision desk

The short answer

The Coconut Song Contest is a fictional national selection for the fictional nation of Floptropica; it does not exist, it selects nothing, and no real broadcaster or artist is involved.

This is satire. Floptropica is a fictional nation — it does not exist, it is not competing, and nothing here is a report of fact.

Everything in this article is fiction. Floptropica is an invented country, the Coconut Song Contest is an invented television programme, and no real broadcaster, artist, song or result appears anywhere below. If you are looking for real national finals, those are tracked in news.

With that established.

The format

The Coconut Song Contest is Floptropica's national selection, staged annually in Coconut City and broadcast to an audience of nobody. Six entries compete. The winner represents Floptropica at a Eurovision Song Contest it is not entered in.

Scoring is split fifty-fifty between a professional jury and a public televote, with two structural complications:

  • The professional jury is the Looks Division.
  • Floptropica has no public.

The Coconut Bureau resolves this each year by casting the televote itself, which it describes as "representative".

The running order

#EntryNotes
1"Coconut (Again)"The Bureau's own submission. Ineligible. Performed anyway
2"Serve"Three minutes of a wind machine. No vocal
3"Nul Points (Ballad Version)"Pre-emptive
4"Bulgaria, Move"Withdrawn following diplomatic representations
5"Untitled"The artist did not arrive. The staging did
6"Slay Anthem"Disqualified for being good

Entry four was withdrawn after Bulgaria did not comment, which Floptropica interpreted as pressure.

The result

The jury awarded twelve points to entry two, on the grounds that the wind machine "understood the assignment". The televote, cast by the Coconut Bureau, awarded twelve points to the Coconut Bureau.

The combined scoreboard has since been sealed by order of the Office of the Queen, and the Bureau has confirmed that the winner will be announced "in due course, or never".

Verdict

Floptropica has once again produced a national final of extraordinary confidence and no discernible purpose, culminating in a result that cannot be published about a contest it cannot enter on behalf of a country that is not there.

It was, in fairness, better staged than several real ones.

The actual national finals for 2027 — the real ones, with real broadcasters and real songs — are tracked as they are confirmed on the news page.

FAQ

Is the Coconut Song Contest real?

No. It is satire. Floptropica is a fictional nation and its national final is a parody of the national-final format, not a report on any real selection show.

Can I watch the Coconut Song Contest?

No. There is nothing to watch. It has not happened, it will not happen, and the broadcast rights are held by an entity that does not exist.
